Cycle in Circles

In the interdisciplinary seminar “Cycle in Circles”, a pavilion for the Gartenschau Bad Urach 2027 is being designed in collaboration with the BuE and dos professorships and structural engineering students.

The focus thereby is on a sustainable design concept that incorporates reversible construction techniques and changing use cases. During the garden show, the pavilion will serve as a café and subsequently as a rest stop for cyclists. The construction places particular emphasis on the reuse of reclaimed timber. One of the designs, or a combination of ideas, is to be realised in 2027.

The aim of this course is to train students in groups consisting of both disciplines across an interdisciplinary spectrum. In addition to developing an understanding of structural analysis, structural design and timber construction, the course also strengthens interdisciplinary communication skills.

The course can be credited as a compulsory Master’s module entitled “Building and Structure”. Two additional Stegreif points can be earned in conjunction with this course.
