Rise Above – Interdisziplinäre Tragwerksentwicklung im Holzbau

.

Designing an observation tower usually involves close collaboration between architects and civil engineers. Such a task awaits you in this interdisciplinary seminar: in "Rise Above," the design of a timber observation tower is tackled in collaboration with students of civil engineering. The projects are developed in mixed groups, with each member contributing their specific knowledge to collectively develop a detailed timber project from the initial design phase. The aim of this course is to train students of both fields within an interdisciplinary spectrum. This not only imparts an understanding of statics, structural engineering, and timber construction but also enhances interdisciplinary communication skills. The project is supported by the House of Competence through workshops on interdisciplinary collaboration, teamwork, and communication skills. The course can be credited as the compulsory master module „Building and Structure – Tragwerksplanung und Struktur“.
