Stegreif - Structures of the past

Stegreif

How can historic structural systems be understood, evaluated and preserved? The impromptu ‘Structural systems of the past – from damage assessment to implementation’ provides insights into the investigation and analysis of existing historic structural systems.

Together with the ‘Büro für Baukonstruktion’ (BfB), we will visit two historic buildings on site: The historic town hall of Mosbach and the protestant church in Bargen. The focus is not only on history, but above all on the structural system and its characteristic construction, design and preservation.

The insights gained from this practical experience are then explored in further detail in teams. Using excerpts of the structural systems we have inspected, we analyze their structural systems and summarize the results in a final assignment.
