Gianluca Casalnuovo
Gianluca Casalnuovo studied civil engineering and architecture at the University of Bologna (Italy) and is a registered civil engineer in the province of Milan, Italy.
He graduated with a research thesis related to the coupling of structural optimization and self-organization processes for the computational design of composite surface tectonics.
He worked at the multinational service company Arup Italy as a computational designer and was involved in the development of advanced algorithms, geometric optimization and automation processes. He had the opportunity to work on the design of the new stadium in Florence and the new MSG arena for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
He is currently a research associate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in the design of structures professorship.
His research interests are geometric optimization, new material systems, fiber composite structures and generative algorithms in architecture.
